Hey, guys! Welcome to another entry for Thursday Movie Picks. It’s a series hosted by Wandering Through the Shelves, so if you want to join the party, head over to her blog! It’s pretty easy: check out each week’s topic and come up with 3 to 5 movies that fit the theme. Today the topic is prequels, so here we go!
#1 Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning
The first film that came to mind when I read the topic was this prequel for Ginger Snaps. The original movie is a pretty bad-ass horror flick from Canada that was followed by a sequel and eventually this prequel. I really need to rewatch all three films again soon, it’s been far too long!
#2 Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me
Twin Peaks is one of my favorite 90s TV shows and David Lynch is among my favorite directors. So, of course, this list wouldn’t be complete without naming Fire Walk with the Me, the prequel to the iconic show.

I only just found out that Ducktales is airing again. (Thank you tumblr for the info!) It was one of my favorites as a kid, so I’m hyped that they gave it a re-vamp.
#2 Twin Peaks
Twin Peaks was one of the defining TV shows of the 90s. I was more than a little excited when a new season was announced in 2017. I will have to re-watch it, though, to untangle all the weird stuff going on there.
Hello my lovely readers!
Those of you who drop by more often will know by know that I’m huge fan of David Lynch and his amazing show Twin Peaks in particular.
You can guess how stoked I was about a new season coming up this year!
#1 – So many new characters!
It is set 25 years after the original show, so of course ever character develops and many new ones get introduced. However, there are so many new additions to the cast, many of them only briefly shown that it can get quite confusing. I really wish that there had been more time to explore some of the new characters and plotlines instead of just throwing in tons of new stuff just to get more guest stars.
#2 – The Plot:
If you have ever seen a David Lynch movie, you’ll know that your chances of ending up super confused are pretty high. With Twin Peaks things had been more or less understandable up until season two. But the new one is something completely different. I’ll have to watch it again (most likely multiple times…) to fully grasp everything that was going on there. Lynch threw in some really interesting ideas worth spending some time pondering about! Continue reading →
This was definitely the year of Twin Peaks. After more than 25 years the cult TV show returned!
Well, before I went for the new season I re-watched all the old episodes and for the first time checked out Fire Walk With Me. The eerie sort of prequel to the TV show was released in 1992 and turned out to be a huge fail…
The Plot: Somewhere in Oregon, the FBI investigates the murder of Teresa Banks, a teen-age prostitute. Agent Dale Cooper is certain: the killer will strike again.
About a year later in Twin Peaks. Laura Palmer is alive and kicking. However, her troubles already got the best of her…
The Rating: David Lynch is one of my favourite directors, so I was prepared to give this movie a fair chance despite the negative reviews I had come across. Well, to be honest, it was a waste of time. Continue reading →
I spent all of 2016 being excited and waiting for Twin Peaks to return after 14 years. Well, it’s postponed to 2017, so instead I just re-watched the two famous original seasons that gained cult status!
What is it about?
Twin Peaks is a remote town somewhere close to the Canadian border. It’s the kind of place where everybody knows their neighbors and nothing bad could ever happen. Until one day, the corpse of homecoming queen Laura Palmer is found.
FBI agent Dale Cooper heads for Twin Peaks to find out what happened. It soon turns out that many things are not what they appear to be and people seem to be leading a double life… Continue reading →
