TMP Television Edition: 2018 Freshmen Series

Hello, my darling readers!
Welcome to another entry for Thursday Movie Picks.
It’s a series hosted by Wandering through the Shelves, so if you want to join the party, head over to her blog! It’s pretty easy: check out each week’s topic and come up with 3 to 5 movies that fit the theme.
This week, however, it is a TV edition special. We’re supposed to pick our favorite new shows of 2018. Well, I’ll have to cheat a little bit there as I didn’t check out too many new shows. So I’ll also mention some of my favorite new seasons that aired in 2018!

#1: Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

This was my surprise discovery of 2018. I had heard about the show only shortly before it hit Netflix. Once it was released I binged all 10 episodes during the weekend.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is a rather dark version of Sabrina Spellman’s life. I was really curious how the show would pan out, as I grew up watching the funny version of the story starring Melissa Joan Hart.
I was more than pleasantly surprised and am already psyched for the next season!
And, by the way, Netflix threw out a holiday special of the show which was unexpected but utterly brilliant!

Thursday Movie Picks: Halloween/Television Edition – The Weird

This week I’m participating in the Thursday Movie Picks series by Wandering through the shelves. For a change the topic focuses on TV instead of movies – and it’s a Halloween special. So let’s talk about The Weird…

 

A little note before I get started. I decided to focus this post on animated show. When I read about the topic the episodes below were the first things to come to my mind, so it’s animation exclusive. 😉

 

Hell on Earth 2006 – South Park:
South Park featured some great Halloween episodes but this one is my favorite – and also the weirdest one. In Hell on Earth 2006 Satan wants to throw a Halloween party My Super Sweet Sixteen style and wears a Britney Spears school girl costume. Weird enough for you?

 

Treehouse of Horror – The Simpsons:
When we talk about Halloween episodes nothing is more classic than the Treehouse of Horror episodes featured in every Simpsons season since the second one. The one I enjoyed most the original – the first Treehouse of Horror episode ever broadcasted. It’s split into three stories: one is about a haunted house. The second one deals with the Simpsons being abducted by aliens. But my most treasured story of all is The Raven. The poem by Edgar Allan Poe is brought to life in this episode. And what’s weirder than a raven saying only “nevermore”?
