Another fresh list for you today! Let’s talk about the finest the 90’s have to offer: great actresses and super funny films!
10 Things I Hate About You:
I just love this film. After seeing it numerous times I know all the lines by heart. The best thing about the film is not the great soundtrack or Heath Ledger. Not even the Shakespeare hints. It’s Julia Stiles as Kat Stratford. That is one badass bitch. Annoyed by everything and everyone, brutally honest and sarcastic and not backing down!
Today’s post is dedicated to one of my favourite actresses. Nicole Kidman delivered many amazing movies throughout her career. Here are my favourites!
To Die For:
I guess most people haven’t even heard about this one. However, this comedy drama by Gus Van Sant is absolutely brilliant! Nicole Kidman plays a stone cold reporter who would stop at nothing to become famous. We even get to see a brilliant performance by Joaquin Phoenix. Simply great!
It’s time for another post to honor my favourite actresses!
Today’s shout out goes to Claire Danes, who delivered many great performances!
#3 – Stardust:
I already did an entire post on this film (click here). Claire Danes’ did a perfect job bringing the character Yvaine to life. I usually have second thoughts when a book gets turned into a movie. However, with Stardust I even liked the film better. Claire Danes’ star sparkles far brighter than the written one!
I guess we all know: there are some pretty weird cartoon shows out there. By now I’ve seen a bunch of them but the shows I discovered only recently made it to the top of my WEIRD! list. Want to know which shows are guaranteed to give you a “what the f**k” moment? Read on!
#3 Bob’s Burgers:
Of the TV shows in this list, Bob’s Burgers might be the most “normal” one. It’s about a family, the Belcher, who own a Burger restaurant. Sounds pretty normal so far, right? Well, during the first episode Louise, the youngest child (and totally my spirit animal), spread the rumour that the burgers are made of human flesh. Believe me when I say the show only gets weirder from there on.
By now Bob’s Burgers is one of my favourite shows ever, they simply have the best humour.
It’s always hard to turn a great book into a movie that is just as good. I’ve seen many amazing stories messed up on the screen. But there are a few movies that are almost as magnificent as the novels they are based on!
I loved the books for their intensity. Suzanne Collins sends shiver down your spin and you will end up as a bundle of nerves. What Collins capture between the page was transferred to the films very well. Especially Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss is stunning. I never thought that it would be possible to portray her that perfectly. Some parts in the books are very monumental and a bit hard to imagine. However, these scenes turned out to be extremely impressive visuals. Both books and movies will get under your skin.
It’s extremely hard to turn an amazing book into a film that does it justice. I’ve seen great novel’s completely messed up on the screen. But there are a few movies that actually did better than their original! Read on to find out which adaptations outdo the books they are based on!
The Perks of Being a Wallflower:
To perfectly honest, I didn’t like the book at all. It wasn’t very creative or catchy. For me it felt like it consists solely of clichés. But all the reasons that made me dislike the book were done wonderfully for the adaptation. The movie has a faster pace, the characters are more amiable and it feels warmer and nicer in general. The book annoyed me but as it turns out, I works just perfectly on screen!
