Top 5 Tuesday: books that have been on my TBR since forever

Hey, guys!
It’s Tuesday, which means it’s time for a bookish favorites post. Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by Meeghan over on Meeghan Reads and is quite simple: check out the topic and write a post with your picks.
Today’s post is about books that have been living on my tbr pile for the longest time. I literally went to Goodreads and sorted the pile and picked out things from page #1, aka novels I added in 2013. Since I *still* haven’t read any of them, I’ll leave you with the blurb, so we both can get an idea of what’s going on!

#1 Bonjour Tristesse

The French Riviera: home to the Beautiful People. And none are more beautiful than Cécile, a precocious seventeen-year-old, and her father Raymond, a vivacious libertine. Charming, decadent and irresponsible, the golden-skinned duo are dedicated to a life of free love, fast cars and hedonistic pleasures. But then, one long, hot summer Raymond decides to marry, and Cécile and her lover Cyril feel compelled to take a hand in his amours, with tragic consequences.

Bonjour Tristesse scandalized 1950s France with its portrayal of teenager terrible Cécile, a heroine who rejects conventional notions of love, marriage and responsibility to choose her own sexual freedom.

#2 Best Little Witch-House in Arkham

In the BEST LITTLE WITCH-HOUSE IN ARKHAM, a feast of Lovecraftian nightmares has been set out for you. Here you will savor a delectable variety of otherworldly blasphemies … twenty-five meaty tales of the bizarre, enough to satisfy even your most eldritch appetites.

Here you will learn about the unspeakable beauty regimen of the loathsome Mrs. Hamogeorgakis. You will discover the vile secrets of Kugappa, the writhing octopus-god, and Ghattambah, a grotesque insect deity whose soul dwells beyond time.

You will drink the creamy Milk of Time, an unholy substance which flows through the depths of a forbidden house known as Der Fleischbrunnen. You will find all of these mouth-watering horrors and more, much more. Bon appétit….

Top 5 Tuesday: U – V – W – X – Y – Z

Hey, guys!
It’s Tuesday, that means it’s time for a bookish favorites posts. Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by Shanah Bionic Book Worm and is quite simple: check out the topic and write a post with your picks.
For this month, Shanah came up with something very special. Each Tuesday I share my top 5 books beginning with the respective letters of the alphabet assigned for the day.
It’s our final post for this month so I’m covering the remaining six letters, U, V, W, X, Y and Z!

U – The Umbrella Academy

I usually don’t read comics but after watching the Netflix adaptation I was curious. The style is pretty cool, but the story was weird (even weirder than the show!) and hard to follow. I read both volumes in an afternoon, so it wasn’t much of a loss but I definitely prefer the show.

V – The Vile Village

Did you know that there are 13 books in Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events? The Vile Village is one of them. It’s not my favorite in the series but I found it quite intriguing!

We are almost done, this is post four out of five on P, Q, R, S and T.

P – Paper Towns

A while ago I read The Fault in our Stars and quite liked it. So I figured I’d give Paper Towns a shot as well. I can’t even tell you how much I hated this book. What an annoying lead character!

Q – Queen of Shadows

Sarah J. Maas here again. The first novel I could think of that begins with a Q is Queen of Shadows, the fourth part in the TOG series. Loved it!

This is post #3 dealing with K, L, M, N and O.

K – Kingdom of Ash

You all knew I was just waiting for a chance to name a Sarah J. Maas book. Kingdom of Ash is the final book in the TOG series and wrecked in just about all ways possible.

L – The Lovely Bones

Usually, I read the book before watching the film. In this case, it was the other way around, so I figured I knew what to expect. The book was somewhat different from the film and not necessarily in a good way. I wasn’t as thrilled by this book as I hoped I would be.

This is the second post, so we’ll talk about F, G, H, I and J.

F – Fairest

This year I finally caught up on all extra books that go with Marissa Meyer’s Lunar Chronicles. Fairest is a prequel that tells the story of evil Queen Levana. A fascinating insight into her deranged mind!

G – The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

I’ve named this book a couple of times now for different T5T themes. It’s just too good not to keep bringing it up. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is one of the most fascinating, intricate and smart thrillers I’ve ever read.

So, let’s begin with A, B, C, D and E!

A – American Gods

I am currently watching the second season of American Gods. The book went straight to my to-read-list back when the first one was announced. It’s quite a handful to read, but it was fascinating, educating and thrilling at the same time.

B – The Book Thief

If you are looking for a book to rip your heart out and bring you to tears, The Book Thief is the one for you. It’s beautifully written, certainly not what you expect but it will crawl right under your skin.
