TMP Halloween Edition: Jump Scares that Got You

Hey, guys!
Welcome to another entry for Thursday Movie Picks.
It’s a series hosted by Wandering through the Shelves, so if you want to join the party, head over to her blog! It’s pretty easy: check out each week’s topic and come up with 3 to 5 movies that fit the theme.
This week I’ll talk about some of my jump scares!

#1 Sleepy Hollow

Sleepy Hollow might not be the first flick you think of for jump scares, but it has one scene that gets me every time. When Johnny Depp visits the witches cottage and …stuff… happens I jump every time.

#2 Mama

This one is so creepy. Two kids, that are somewhat feral clambering through the house? A protective ghost that lurks in the corners? All the ingredients for a good jump scare!

This week I’ll talk about some of my teen horror films!

#1 Carrie

Carrie is the ultimate teen horror flick. It combines all of the horrors high school life has in store topped up with some telekinetic powers and a badass female lead.

#2 The Covenant

Just recently I watched this horror film starring a young Sebastian Stan. Well, this might very well be one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Just about every scene is cringe-worthy.

This week I’ll talk about some of my favorite horror period dramas.

#1 Crimson Peak

Well, this was not quite as good as I had hoped for. However, the setting and the colors are absolutely breathtaking. Tom Hiddleston just looks like he was born to star in this kind of film.

#2 The Witch

If you’re going for super creepy check out this one. The Witch is atmospheric, irritating, has the perfect soundtrack and is simply unique.

#1 Lucifer

This is one of my current favorites. Season four only dropped a few weeks ago, and I already can’t wait for #5. Tom Ellis is just divine in this one (pun intended!).

#2 Once Upon a Time

I haven’t seen this one yet but I always loved the idea behind Once Upon a Time. At some point, I will definitely watch it, but at the moment there are just too many episodes for me to deal with.

#1 The Break-Up

The Break-Up was the most obvious pick but this Jennifer Aniston film was too funny to not mention it. It’s kind of cringy at moments. However, if you want to have a quick laugh, it’s the production you’d go for.

#2 Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

This might be my all-time favorite Jim Carrey movie. It’s so intricate and the idea is just fascinating. Please go and watch this gem if you haven’t seen it already!

#1 Amélie

There are many great French movies but Amélie is among my favorites. If you haven’t seen it yet, you need to check out this magical piece of filmmaking.

#2 Life is Beautiful

I’m not an emotional person, but this one had me weeping. It’s so wonderful yet heart-breaking and sad. One of the best Italian films out there.
