The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller

Hey guys!
Another day, another book review. Today I bring you a little gold nugget of a novel called The Shadows Between Us!

The Plot (according to Goodreads):

Alessandra is tired of being overlooked, but she has a plan to gain power:

1) Woo the Shadow King.
2) Marry him.
3) Kill him and take his kingdom for herself.

No one knows the extent of the freshly crowned Shadow King’s power. Some say he can command the shadows that swirl around him to do his bidding. Others say they speak to him, whispering the thoughts of his enemies. Regardless, Alessandra knows what she deserves, and she’s going to do everything within her power to get it.

But Alessandra’s not the only one trying to kill the king. As attempts on his life are made, she finds herself trying to keep him alive long enough for him to make her his queen—all while struggling not to lose her heart. After all, who better for a Shadow King than a cunning, villainous queen?

The Rating:

This was absolutely impossible to put down. The Shadows Between Us is the Slytherin romance of your dreams and can only be described as delightfully wicked.

My edition is from Fairyloot and the purple and black cover is stunning. I think the normal version is red and black, but the special one stole my heart. It’s. So. Beautiful.

Top 5 Tuesday: Characters I’d dress up as

Hey, guys!
It’s Tuesday, that means it’s time for a bookish favorites posts. Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by Meeghan over on Meeghan Reads and is quite simple: check out the topic and write a post with your picks.
This week we’ll talk about some characters I’d totally dress up as!

#1 Jude from The Folk of the Air

Just about every single one of her outfits described in the books – from ballgown to assassin slacks – sounded downright gorgeous. I’d put on everything Jude ever wore in a heartbeat.

#2 Alessandra from The Shadows Between Us

So, I recently finished this book and loved it so much. The main character Alessandra has a thing for fashion and creates most of her clothes herselves. On top of that she keeps setting new trends the entire court tries to emulate. If I could steal one of her outfits, I would.

Top 5 Tuesday: Books where something went right

Hey, guys!

After we spent last week talking about books where something went wrong, today we get to have a little chat about books where something went right! *starts dancing awkwardly around all the spoilers*

#1 Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy

A friend of mine recommened the Skulduggery Pleasant books to me and I was immideately hooked. These novel follow a skeleton detective – and considering how many books there are, he must know what he’s doing. While it wasn’t smooth sailing, a lot of things went right in book #1, otherwise the heroes wouldn’t have made it all the way to #2!

#2 Eight Will Fall by Sarah Haria

I’m catching up on all my books subscription reads! This was such an interesting one. The team that gets send on a mission here definitely encountered a good amount of problems, but I’d say in the end, things went right!
