The Boys: Season 2 – A Review

Hey peeps!
Today I bring you my thoughts on the second season of The Boys.
Let’s find out whether it’s as good as the first one!

The Plot (according to Rotten Tomatoes):

The even more intense, more insane Season 2 finds The Boys on the run from the law, hunted by the Supes, and desperately trying to regroup and fight back against Vought. In hiding, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) try to adjust to a new normal, with Butcher (Karl Urban) nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) must navigate her place in The Seven as Homelander (Antony Starr) sets his sights on taking complete control. His power is threatened with the addition of Stormfront (Aya Cash), a social media-savvy new Supe, who has an agenda of her own. On top of that, the Supervillain threat takes center stage and makes waves as Vought seeks to capitalize on the nation’s paranoia.

The Rating:

Wow, this was certainly a lot. Where do I even start with this one?!

The season had a few ups and downs for me but overall, the second season was amazing. We got a ton of plot-twists some truly crazy shit and new characters. (The rest of the review will contain spoilers, so consider yourself warned!)

The Boys: Season 1 – A Review

Hey guys!
Today I want to share my thoughts on a show that was recommended to me by several friends. Let me tell you, they were so right! So, what makes this show great?

The Plot:

The Boys is set in a universe where superpowers exist and those people are seen as heroes. Vought is a company that manages and marked seven of the most famous superheroes. For Starlight a dream comes true when she is accepted into this elite circle. But she didn’t know what she signed up for.
In the meantime, Hughie deals with the loss of his girlfriend who died in an accident caused by one of the heroes. That’s enough to take a closer look at what’s really going on at Vought headquarters…

The Rating:

The Boys is so brilliant! I didn’t really know what to expect but once I watched the first episode I was hooked.

In the midst of numerous superhero movies and TV shows, I was surprised to see that The Boys actually had a very fresh and unique take on this whole thing. They really surprised me with the attitude towards the subject and absolutely nailed it.

TMP TV Edition: 2019 Freshmen Series

Hey, guys!
Welcome to another entry for Thursday Movie Picks.
It’s a series hosted by Wandering Through the Shelves, so if you want to join the party, head over to her blog! It’s pretty easy: check out each week’s topic and come up with 3 to 5 TV shows that fit the theme.
Today I’ll talk about some of my favorite new shows of 2019!

#1 Watchmen

This one certainly was a surprise. I was hooked from the first moment on and couldn’t wait to explore that world further. I even picked up the graphic novel to learn more about Watchmen. The only word to adequately describe this show is impressive!

#2 The Mandalorian

Let’s be real here: the show is called The Mandalorian but we’re all just here for Baby Yoda. Disney might as well have named it The Baby Yoda Show. I’m not even mad! It’s a fun show, with cool ideas and characters and Baby Yoda is a precious little nugget that needs to be protected at all costs.
