Supernatural: Season 15 – Part 2

Hey guys!
*Takes a deep breath*
I watched the rest of season 15 right when it came out but I knew my review would turn out to be quite lengthy. So, I had to wait for a bit until I actually had time to sit down and compile a review that does all my feelings justice. I’m finally done, so here we go! (Beware, this review will be nothing but spoilers!)

The Plot:

This is it. The final round. Sam and Dean have to face God himself. Can they win a game as dangerous as that?

The Rating:

I was so excited to see the last stretch of this long journey. Although I had only started watching Supernatural in late 2019, I was already familiar with almost every aspect of the show through tumblr. I watched all season in record time and was heartbroken when the finale couldn’t air as originally scheduled. After all, I had planned things exactly so I could watch the whole show in one go without having to wait between seasons! With my plan thwarted I started re-watching the show once more in the mean-time and grew even more excited about the impending finale. October finally came, bringing with it the last seven episodes of Supernatural that would ever air.

TMP Halloween/Television Edition: Horror

Hey, guys!
Welcome to another entry for Thursday Movie Picks.
It’s a series hosted by Wandering Through the Shelves, so if you want to join the party, head over to her blog! It’s pretty easy: check out each week’s topic and come up with 3 to 5 movies that fit the theme.
Last Thursday of the month, so it’s TV time!

#1 Supernatural

I know I am super late to the party, but this year I binged all seasons of Supernatural. I love it. ‘Nough said.

#2 Grimm

About a year before I got started with Supernatural, I binged Grimm which is actually quite similar. Anyways, it’s a great show with lots of humor and creativity.

Supernatural: The Best Bits

Hey guys!
This will be my final Supernatural post for now. Thanks for bearing with me this month and following me on my journey through 15 seasons of saving people and hunting things.
Let’s finish this off with my favorite bits about the show, shall we?

The Intros:

Every season of Supernatural has a different intro animation thingy. I don’t know what to call it but it’s super cool. Every time I finished a season I was genuinely looking forward to finding out what the new one would look like. By the way, all of them look pretty badass, so definitely a win here!

The Soundtrack:

Everybody who loves classic rock will have the best of times with this show. I have a playlist on Spotify with all the songs from the show and it’s one of the playlists I listen to most often. I love that they didn’t just go with the most obvious song choices either. So, chances are you’ll hear some of your favorite tunes but you’ll also discover some new ones!

Character Development:

While I criticized in my last post, that season 1 was a bit dire in terms of character development, they really nailed it during all other seasons. Sam and Dean in season 15 are not the same people they were in season 1. They’ve come such a long way, been through so much, and learned a lot which is reflected in their development. Sometimes shows try really hard to just keep the status quo, not daring to change things lest they lose viewers. Here, however, they simply did what was necessary and it really benefited the show tremendously.

Supernatural: The Worst Bits

We’ve come a long way. After binging (almost) 15 seasons of Supernatural and reviewing them this month, I want to conclude with two final posts. Now that I’ve taken it all in I’m ready to pick out the bits about the show I liked best – and the ones that didn’t work for me.
So, today I’ll bring you all the things that annoyed me about Supernatural (a post full of spoilers)!
Make sure to come back tomorrow for the best bits!

The Female Characters:

If you look at all the reviews I did this month, you’ll notice that my thoughts on season #1 weren’t posted this year. Actually, I had watched that a while ago and wasn’t exactly blown away. One of the reasons as to why I didn’t immediately continue watching was how women were included in the show. They all seemed super shallow and the same in every episode. I was disappointed and annoyed.
When I got back into the game I noticed that although the female characters on the show became more varied, they somehow just didn’t hit the mark. For the first couple of seasons, I just couldn’t get into any of the ladies, as much as I wanted to cheer for them. You can tell that I’m not the only one who felt that way as for example Bella was quickly written out of the show after it became evident that fans didn’t like her.
As the show progressed we finally got some amazing female characters that are so important for this show: Mary, Charlie, or Rowena are absolutely kick-ass and some of my favorite parts! It’s just a shame that it took so long for the show to finally work that out.

The First Season:

As you can tell from the previous reason, season #1 didn’t exactly manage to hook me. Apart from failing all the ladies in the show, even the two Winchester brothers were lacking some depth. While I was initially inclined to forgive that as there were 15 more seasons for character development, I now think that they should have worked harder on nailing that bit. They had 22 episodes after all! In retrospect, you can clearly tell that during the early season the show was still looking for its identity in a way and especially season #1 simply shows that not everything was in place yet.

Supernatural: Season 15 (The First Half) – A Review

Hey guys!
You know, I started watching Supernatural late in 2019. I had waited this long, so I could watch the entire thing without always having to wait in-between season. I figured, they’ll be done airing the final season by the time I catch up.
…And then COVID 19 hit and my beautiful plan was for naught. Anyways, let’s talk about what already aired of Supernatural’s 15th and final season!

The Plot (according to Rotten Tomatoes):

Sam, Dean, and Cass are left to save themselves and the world one final time. But this time they aren’t just up against any old monster. This time they have to take on God himself, and that guy is pissed af.

The Rating:

We’re not even done with the season and I’m already feeling all the feels.
There’s so much going and I was prepared for sacrifices to be made but those still hit me hard.

So far, the season is super intriguing. The story is well-written and promises to be a worthy end to 15 years of saving people and hunting things.

Supernatural: Season 13 – A Review

Hey guys!
We’re almost there. Season 13 of 15 is done, so let’s get right down to it!

The Plot (according to Rotten Tomatoes):

Season 13 of this drama series continues on the journey of the Winchester brothers, Sam and Dean. Lucifer returns once again, and along with him comes surprising news: the devil is expecting a child. Now, Sam and Dean must tackle this complicated situation, dealing with a creature of extraordinary powers – while also facing all sorts of other threats along the way.

The Rating:

This is probably one of my all-time favorite seasons.
We start with some big losses as well as one even bigger addition to the team.

The change in the dynamic of the whole show is apparent and it’s a great way to spice up an old dish. This season felt really fresh and unique even though it’s #13.
