Hey, guys! Welcome to another entry for Thursday Movie Picks. It’s a series hosted by Wandering Through the Shelves, so if you want to join the party, head over to her blog! It’s pretty easy: check out each week’s topic and come up with 3 to 5 movies that fit the theme. We’ve made it to the last Thursday of October and to the last Halloween TMP for this year. It’s all about horror TV shows today!
#1 Stranger Things
I was a bit late to the party with Stranger Things but it’s such a cool show! It definitely has horror elements and I can’t believe I never picked it before. Also, the new season is coming soon and I’m very excited about that!
#2 The Haunting of Hill House
This is such a good adaptation! I didn’t really like the book The Haunting of Hill House, but Netflix really nailed the horror vibe with the show!
Hello, my darling readers! Today, I finally talk about one of my most anticipated new season this year. I was beyond excited when Stranger Things 3 finally hit Netflix, so let’s get talking about it!
All seems swell when a new shopping mall opens, everybody is in love and summer jobs keep the guys and gals occupied. But nothing good ever lasts. Jobs sucks, relationships end but most importantly: Russian infiltrate Hawkins and try to re-open the gate…
After a few things were a little off during the last season I was both excited and anxious to see what season 3 would bring. And I wasn’t disappointed!
Where do I even begin? The Russian’s building a secret underground base in Hawkins might be a bit over the top and a cliché, but hell, it worked! I wasn’t sure about it at first but after some time I decided to just go with the flow. The Russian’s tie in perfectly with the ’80s vibe and Alexei might be one of my favorite characters this season.
This season we need to talk about relationships. While I’m not overly fond of the whole boyfriend/girlfriend dynamic we have going on with El/Mike and Max/Lucas, I think they might have nailed the amount of drama going on at that age. Furthermore, I don’t really care about Nancy/Jonathan anymore, their arc was a bit weak and their relationship is past the expiration date. However, there are Joyce/Hopper. I can’t say too much without adding spoilers, so I’ll just say that my heart is broken and I still haven’t finished putting the pieces back together.
The more reviews I write, the more I realize how behind I am on the latest seasons. Stranger Things season 3 is coming out soon(ish), so it’s about time I share my two cents on season 2!
Everybody is trying to come to terms with the events of season 1. But the horror is far from over. Will may be back, but is certainly not okay. What’s going on in the Upside Down? And where is Eleven?
Stranger Things is one of the best shows currently out there.
The second season may not be as 100 % brilliant as the first one, but for me it’s at about 98 %. That’s certainly something I can live with.
I was beyond excited to see what the show runners had in store for us with season 2. There are many surprises and plot turns I hadn’t seen coming (but also some I had hoped for). The story remains intricate and capturing, so season 3 promises to be interesting as well. Continue reading →
Halloween is getting closer, and I’m busy watching horror movies. If you have some more time at hand I have some awesome TV shows that will get you in the groove for Halloween. Be prepared to get scared!
#1 Ash vs Evil Dead:
This show is actually my most recent discovery. All of you who know the original Evil Dead series will love this show. Ash is back and still kicking. It is just as funny, weird and gore-y as the movies are!
I recently finished devouring Stranger Things and by now you all know how obsessed I am with the show.
So today I want to share some thoughts I had will binge-watching the first season!
Thought #1 – Flashback Time!
While watching Stranger Things I often got that fuzzy feeling of something familiar that I really like and cherish. After I gave it some thought i realized that it’s because Stranger Things reminds me of some of my favorite movies!
You can trust me when I say they did it perfectly. It never seems cheesy or too much. It’s just a slight remembrance that will leave a smile on your face!
There actually is a video showing all those reference. Did you spot all of them?
I haven’t done a Tag-post in ages so when I came across the Stranger Things Book Tag, I got really excited! As you know, I recently finished watching the show and now I don’t know what to do with my life anymore 😛
However, I found this awesome Tag over at Kat’s blog Life and Other Disasters (and also the cool graphics). Since she told everyone to consider themselves tagged, I take the chance – here we go!
THE FIRST BOOK IN A SERIES THAT LEFT YOU INTRIGUED AND SLIGHTLY CONFUSED
For this question I’ll go with A Game of Thrones, the first book in George R. R. Martin’s series A Song of Ice and Fire. The book is a masterpiece but there are so many characters and plot strings, you will most definitely end up confused.
To be honest, it took me the entire first two books to completely figure out who’s who and what’s going on.
However, I was hooked from page one and can’t wait for Martin to finally finish the next part! Continue reading →
