Thursday Movie Picks: Halloween/Television Edition – The Weird

Hello my lovely readers!
This week I’m participating in the Thursday Movie Picks series by Wandering through the shelves. For a change the topic focuses on TV instead of movies – and it’s a Halloween special. So let’s talk about The Weird…

A little note before I get started. I decided to focus this post on animated show. When I read about the topic the episodes below were the first things to come to my mind, so it’s animation exclusive. 😉

Hell on Earth 2006 – South Park:
South Park featured some great Halloween episodes but this one is my favorite – and also the weirdest one. In Hell on Earth 2006 Satan wants to throw a Halloween party My Super Sweet Sixteen style and wears a Britney Spears school girl costume. Weird enough for you?

Treehouse of Horror – The Simpsons:
When we talk about Halloween episodes nothing is more classic than the Treehouse of Horror episodes featured in every Simpsons season since the second one. The one I enjoyed most the original – the first Treehouse of Horror episode ever broadcasted. It’s split into three stories: one is about a haunted house. The second one deals with the Simpsons being abducted by aliens. But my most treasured story of all is The Raven. The poem by Edgar Allan Poe is brought to life in this episode. And what’s weirder than a raven saying only “nevermore”?

Top 5 Christmas Episodes of Animated TV Shows

Hello Folks! Christmas is just around the corner so I want to share my favourite TV episodes. Today I’ll present my favourite Christmas themed animated episodes, in a few days you’ll get my favourite non animated stuff! I hope you enjoy the list! 😀

South Park – Woodland Critter Christmas (S8E14):
By now South Park has come up with many great Christmas episodes. But my favourite will always be the one with a bunch of cute woodland creatures who want to summon the Anti-Christ. Sounds weird? It is. And completely hilarious!
The guys from South Park are kind enough to put all episodes on the website, so I leave you the link to watch the full episode! (German South Park Page)

Top 7 Cartoon Shows

When I was little I loved watching all those cartoon shows on TV (a post about that will follow 😉 ). Well, Some things never change! Although I’m turning 21 soon I still adore cartoons. Check out my favourite cartoon shows (for adults)!

7. Family Guy/The Cleveland Show/American Dad:
Those three shows all come from one guy: Seth McFarlane, and have a bunch of similarities, so they only get one spot =)
Most of the time the shows are very funny and have original ideas. However, sometimes the humor is a bit far below the belt, so only #7 for Seth McFarlane and his shows! (they once did a crossover episode of the three shows, check out the trailer below)

South Park is more than you’d expect

I recently finished watching the latest South Park season. After putting some thought into it I came to a conclusion: Beneath all the jokes and insults, South Park is a very critical show.

It’s something I noticed especially during the last two seasons. Looking at the topics they touched you can see that they picked up important matters. Despite the funny and not always politically correct approach South Park is dealing with relevant topics in a very critical way.
