The 10th season of this supernatural series begins with Dean (Jensen Ackles) enjoying life as a demon with Crowley (Mark A. Sheppard). However, Dean grows more aggressive when the Mark of Cain is not fed. Meanwhile, Sam (Jared Padalecki), oblivious to his brother’s state, is desperately searching for him and, upon learning his fate, attempts to return him to human form. Additionally, the brothers continue hunting supernatural beings and face the goddess Calliope when she brutally forces a school to perform a musical about the brothers’ lives. Also, they become murder suspects while investigating a shape shifter and take on an old foe who resurfaces. Elsewhere, Castiel (Misha Collins) is on the verge of death, but does not want to be saved by evil means. This leaves Hannah (Erica Carroll) in a quandary as she tries to help him.
I’m really glad to see that the show got its groove back. Season 8 was a bit of a letdown for me and I actually had to take a break from watching after that one. Well, season 9 was much better but now I’m always a little wary when starting a new season.
#10 holds an approval rating of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, and I’m glad I can agree with that. I didn’t love everything, but it certainly is a good season!
The new Doctor Who Christmas Special is approaching (featuring a brand new Doctor!) so I figured it’s time to look back on season 10 and Peter Capaldi’s time as Doctor!
#1 – Nardole:
Companions come and go, but Nardole is most certainly one of my favourites. For a tiny second I had my doubts that Matt Lucas would be able to pull it off, but believe me, he does! He’s so quirky, funny and simply special that I hope we will be seeing more of him in the future!
#2 – Bill:
As we are speaking of companions…
Bill, portrayed by Pearl Mackie, saved the whole Peter Capaldi era for me. To be honest, the first two seasons didn’t really impress me, some episodes almost annoyed me. However, I realized that it’s not Peter Capaldi’s version of the Doctor but Jenna Coleman as companion. I simply didn’t like her character, but as soon as Bill came into the picture I was back on board as well. Season 10 was an emotional rollercoaster, especially the final episode, that just ripped my heart out and tore it to shreds! Continue reading →
In 2016 a huge gift was made to all The X-Files fans. The show returned for another season!
While I wouldn’t consider myself a fan – in fact I haven’t seen a single episode of the original series – I was pretty excited about the show returning. Here are my thoughts on it!
The very first season of this show aired before I was even born so I pretty much missed the entire thing. But when I started watching season 10 I was hooked from the very first episode on. Although it is pretty weird at times there are many interesting ideas and the entire show is very well made. I know I’ll end up binge-watching the other nine seasons!
After watching about half of the season I came to a conclusion: The X-Files is basically Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction in better resolution. Don’t get me wrong, this is a compliment. I used to love that show when I was a kid! Continue reading →
