Hello my lovely readers!
I just finished watching the final episode of Ash vs. Evil Dead – Season 3. Unfortunately, this will be the show final season 😦
Life could be so cozy in Elk Grove Michigan. Ash is giving the hardware store a makeover, has a great time with his buddies and even finds out he has a kick-ass daughter. If only evil wouldn’t try to destroy the world…
I am beyond sad that this was the final season. It was brilliant!
After season 2 I had my doubts that they can make it work for another one but by now, I want it to continue forever. Of course they keep up with the funny tone of the last two seasons, but this one also has some tough and serious moments. I hadn’t expected the combination to work out but the balance is perfect. The tone of season 3 is generally darker but also has more depth. Continue reading
Last month I wrote a post about an amazing TV show I stumbled upon: Ash vs. Evil Dead. I finally had time to check out season 2, so let’s find out whether you should keep on tuning in!
Thought #1 – The Characters:
In season 1 we were introduced to some new characters I grew quite fond of. In season 2 we do not only get some more amazing and surprising cast members, but watch them also gaining more and more depth. Especially when the show turns a bit darker, I was thrilled to find out how each character would handle it. Ash in particular surprised me here… Continue reading
Today I have something very interesting for you. I’m sure most of you have watched one or maybe several movies/TV shows of the Evil Dead franchise. Since the three original films are one of my favourite horror flicks in general I was sceptical about the new one that came out in 2013. Is it as good as the old stuff?
Your basic horror movie scheme: A group of friends is alone in the woods, having the time of their lives in some cabin they rented. Soon before they encounter something evil that lives there too…
Old vs. New:
Sam Raimi’s 1981 movie had been a revolutionary step when it comes to horror films. I remember my mother telling me that back in the The Evil Dead was just about the toughest thing out there. No wonder such a huge franchise and fan base built around it! Continue reading
I’ve already mentioned this show before but so far neglected to give it a proper introduction. So let me present to you: Ash vs. Evil Dead, a comedy horror show developed by Sam Raimi and based on his homonymous movie series!
What is it about?
Our good old friend Ash (played by Bruce Campbell) is living a pretty decent life when all of sudden (because he did something stupid) the Evil Dead show up again, more 30 years after their last encounter. Well, as we all know, Ash is just THE man to stop them…
Today’s post has been waiting in my drafts folder for quite some time now. The movie I want to talk about is Sam Raimi’s star packed adventure Oz the Great and the Powerful.
Do you want to find out what was going on in Oz before Dorothy crash landed?
Oscar Diggs is the more or less famous magician who stars in a travelling circus. As he is quite a rascal, Oscar soon gets into trouble but he is lucky: he escapes in a hot air balloon. Well, that is until the balloon gets sucked into a tornado that drags him right to the land of Oz. That’s where problems really begin… Continue reading
Inspired by my last post about Braindead, a zombie comedy, I re-watched classic trilogy in this field. Although The Evil Dead started out as real horror stuff, the second and third installment also go into the comedy segment.
The Evil Dead:
A group of friends get together to spend a nice weekend in a cabin out in the woods. As it behooves for a good horror film, it doesn’t take long until the trouble begins. The teenagers accidentally awaken something very dark when they play a tape with recitations from the Necronomicon Ex Mortis. One after the other they get possessed…
Evil Dead II:
Beginning exactly where the first part ended, Evil Dead II picks up the story of the only survivor Ash. After killing all his friends (and girlfriend) he tries to escape only to be possessed aswell. But as day breaks he returns to normal. It turns out that the only way our has been destroyed trapping Ash in the hut.
Later we discover that the only way to put the demons back in their place is opening a portal…
Army of Darkness: Continue reading
