#1 Joker

I actually saw this one in theatres and was blown away by the beauty of the soundtrack!

So, did you know that Ennio Morricone only won one Oscar and it’s for The Hateful Eight? Long overdue.

#1 Roman Holiday

I absolutely adore Audrey Hepburn, but she’s not the shining star we need to talk about right now. Responsible for the costume design on Roman Holiday was Edith Head. That woman is an absolute legend. She won this particular Academy Award a total of eight time and was nominated 35 times. Honestly, every single costume I’ve ever seen of her is absolutely stunning!

#2 Marie Antoinette

Milena Canonero took care of the mesmerizing and memorable costume for Marie Antoinette. I watched the movie years ago and literally the only thing I remember about it are the stunning outfits, so it was definitely a deserved win! By the way, she already has 4 wins!

#1 The Revenant

Let’s start with best cinematography, shall we? While I didn’t love The Revenant, the cinematography there is outstanding. DiCaprio had been overdue for an Oscar but he had better performances than this one. While I wish he hadn’t won, the movie definitely deserved this win!

#2 The Aviator

Speaking of DiCaprio, as I was browsing Wikipedia for movies that won in the cinematography category, I found out that one got an award. It’s not a perfect film but intriguing enough and beautifully made.

#1 Promising Young Woman

This movie really fascinates me. It’s quite gritty and I wanted to see it when back before COVID I saw the first trailer in theaters. Emerald Fennell did a great job and it’s a well-deserved win.

#2 Django Unchained

Y’all knew I couldn’t write this post without including at least one Tarantino movie. Even though I wish Inglorious Basterds had won and I could list that one, Django Unchained is also brilliant!
