Hello, my darling readers! Netflix released the 7th and final season of Orange Is the New Black. After season 6 I was a bit disappointed any wary of what is to come. So let’s see if we got a worthy ending here!
Who said that life after prison was easy? Piper is trying and despite being rather privileged she struggles. Meanwhile, things in prison aren’t swell either. Especially when some of the girls find out what an immigration detention center is like…
Just when I thought OITNB had lost its groove and I’m glad for it to be over, the hit me with this season. Right in the feels.
This final season was extremely emotional. Especially the scenes related to the detention center were so intense. If you know that Diana Guerrero’s (who plays Maritza) entire family was deported to Colombia this whole thing becomes even more real and chilling. It’s not only the familiar characters that find themselves in the detention center but also some new additions with stories that will bring tears to your eyes.
In my attempt to catch up with all the new seasons out there, I finally finished Orange is the New Black season 6. After season 5 ended with a big cliffhanger, I was excited about this one! So let’s see what happened…
After the riot of season 5, the inmates are assigned to new blocks. Piper, Alex and the others find themselves in the middle of a gang war. Good old friend is not exactly on friendly terms with both gang leaders…
There’s only one word to describe this season: boring.
I had never expected to be gang wars being this uneventful. For the most part there is absolutely nothing going on and even the background stories are rare. Even the storylines that seemed promising fall flat. For example the story surrounding Caputo got more or less reduced to him being/not being in a relationship with Figueroa.
By now I am so annoyed with Piper I had the urge to skip the scenes that contained her. Continue reading →
I’m currently a bit behind with catching up on all my favourite shows and the new seasons. However, I finally managed to watch Orange is the New Black #5!
Thought #1 – Piper:
Well, I mentioned this in my post about the fourth season, but let me say it again: Although Piper started out as the main character, I was really glad when the focus of the show shifted. At a certain point she began to bore me. After some more time, she annoyed me. She’s an interesting side character, but I’m super glad that in season 5 she’s not the main center of attention and action.
Thought #2 – The Background:
One of the things I appreciated most about the past season is how every character gets to develop and has many different layers. An important part of giving the characters depth, is telling their stories. So far almost all of those were intense and got under your skin. This season not that many stories are featured but believe me, the ones we get to see will hit you hard. Continue reading →
Hello my lovely readers!
So, it’s been a little over a month since the latest season of OITNB hit Netflix. Well, I binge-watched the whole thing but never found the time to share my thoughts with you. That has to change, so here we go!
Thought #1 – Piper:
Over the course of the last three seasons, Piper has been growing less interesting for me with every episode. Although she’s actually supposed to be the main character, everybody else seems to have more depth than her. Especially during the first few episodes of season four, Piper became almost ridiculous. However, just when I wrote her off, shit hit the fan and, guess what, she may be interesting after all! I’m really excited to find out more. Continue reading →
2015 was the year of many amazing shows returning for another season. After my post on the best shows I discovered in 2015, I now want to honor all the stunning seasons I followed this year!
#1 – American Horror Story – Hotel:
So far I loved all AHS seasons (maybe #4 – Freak Show a bit less than the others…) but this one really took my breath away. It is creepy and haunting. The soundtrack is absolutely brilliant and – as always – the actors are superb. Beside a lot of familiar faces returning for this season, we also got someone new playing her first big role. Lady Gaga took one of the leading roles. At first I was very sceptical but she did an amazing job, I was deeply impressed by her performance.
The new Orange is the New Black season is finally out! After three days I’m done with watching and I’m pretty excited about this season. Here’s why:
It’s not just about one person. Although it did start out focusing on Piper, you get to know all of the characters. Each one has his or her own story. This includes not only the inmates but also the people working at the prison. I love how many dimensions this show has. All the aspect brought in give the show a depth that others just can’t achieve.
