The Mid Year Freak Out Tag – 2019 Edition!

Hello, my lovely readers!
Before I continue with my reviews on the MCU films, I’d like to give a shoutout to Shanah from Bionic Book Worm, who came up with the Mid Year Freak Out Tag. I always make sure to participate in her Top 5 Tuesday series and was now tagged to do this post as well!
So let’s take a look at my bookish year so far and what is to come in the second half of 2019!

#1 – THE BEST BOOK I READ SO FAR IN 2019

I read many great books this year but I think my favorite so far is The Cruel Prince by Holly Black. I only picked the book up because I saw it all over Instagram and fell in love with the cover art. That it turned out to be so brilliant was a great surprise!

#2 – MY FAVORITE SEQUEL THIS YEAR

As I am going strong in terms of YA books this year, my favorite sequel has to be Crooked Kingdom. I’m currently about 2/3 through and am beyond thrilled!

Stranger Things Book Tag

strangerthings-booktag

Hello Guys!
I haven’t done a Tag-post in ages so when I came across the Stranger Things Book Tag, I got really excited! As you know, I recently finished watching the show and now I don’t know what to do with my life anymore 😛
However, I found this awesome Tag over at Kat’s blog Life and Other Disasters (and also the cool graphics). Since she told everyone to consider themselves tagged, I take the chance – here we go!

THE FIRST BOOK IN A SERIES THAT LEFT YOU INTRIGUED AND SLIGHTLY CONFUSED

A Game of Thrones - CoverFor this question I’ll go with A Game of Thrones, the first book in George R. R. Martin’s series A Song of Ice and Fire. The book is a masterpiece but there are so many characters and plot strings, you will most definitely end up confused.
To be honest, it took me the entire first two books to completely figure out who’s who and what’s going on.
However, I was hooked from page one and can’t wait for Martin to finally finish the next part! Continue reading

The 50 Bookish Questions Tag

I saw this Tag over at BluChickenNinja and just loved the questions. So here we go!

1. What was the last book you read?
Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. You can look forward to a Book vs. Movie post in a few days!

2. Was it a good one?
Definitely. I really enjoyed all the bits of Greek mythology, love that subject! So looking forward to reading the next installments of the series.

3. What made it good?
I was surprised how thrilling the book was. At the same time you always learned a bit about Greek mythology without even noticing. although I read some books on that matter, I found out some new stuff! Despite adding quite a bunch of that stuff, the book never gets boring, on the contrary – it just adds some more depth to the whole story!

4. Would you recommend it to other people?
Yes. Even if you’re not into Greek mythology, it is still an entertaining and nicely written YA book. Continue reading

The 7 Sins Book Tag!

The wonderful Lisi Ledbetter from elmoknowsitall came up with this really cool book tag. 7 Questions for 7 sins. I’m super excited to answer all of them!

1. GREED: What is the most expensive book in your library and what is the most inexpensive?
To be honest, I never buy any expensive books, or better said nothing at all that is expensive. During the last few months I completely gave up buying books, as the Viennese library has almost every book imaginable in stock. Continue reading

The Unpopular Opinion Book Tag!

Hello guys!
I’m sure some of you already know this tag but I only stumbled upon it a few days ago. The idea is really cool and a big shout out to The Impossible Girl Kat from Life and Other Disasters for tagging me!
I’m excited to get started, so here we go!

1. A popular book or series that you didn’t like:
I know some people out there will want to slay me for this, but I hated the entire Lord of the Rings book series. For some reason I managed to finish all three books, but I was already annoyed after the first 20 pages of book #1. Tolkien dwells on little details that are neither interesting, fascinating or in any way relevant for the plot. Therefore the story drags on forever. 95% of the first book describe how they walk through a damn forest! (If you want to read more on that matter, here’s my detailed post)

2. A popular book that everyone hates but you love: Continue reading
