Top 5 Tuesday: New Authors

Hey, guys!
It’s Tuesday, that means it’s time for a bookish favorites posts. Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by Meeghan over on Meeghan Reads and is quite simple: check out the topic and write a post with your picks.
Today’s post is all about new authors. As I currently have a subscription for two book boxes, I basically discover somebody new every time I pull out the book I get there. So, I’ll share some of my favorite authors I fell in love with recently after getting their novel!

#1 Shelby Mahurin

I know everybody and their grandma had been going on about how amazing Serpent & Dove is. I got the book a while ago, but never really had time to pick it up. Well, until a few weeks ago. Despite some issues I have with it, I love Mahurin’s writing style and can’t wait to read the next part.

#2 Tricia Levenseller

From the cover art alone I was already in love with The Shadows Between Us. Levenseller deliver the delightfully wicked Slytherin romance I didn’t know I need in my life and now I need more. I’m absolutely delighted to pick up more of her novels.

Welcome to our last post of the month and the final post in the T5T series of listing our favorite writers alphabetically. So read on for letters U, V, W, X, Y, and Z (or in my case V, W, and Z)!

#1 Menna van Praag

I only read this one recently, again brought to me via a book subscription box, but could scarcely put it down. I see lots of potential there, so I’m excited to read more from Menna van Praag.

#2 Brian K. Vaughan

As I’m really into comics at the moment, I though I should list another great creator on that front. I picked up Paper Girls at comic con and everything about these comics is amazing.

This week has probably been the hardest one for me to choose, so here you have some honorable mentions: Sarah J. Maas, Alan Moore, Derek Landy!

#1 Stephen King

The father of modern horror, Stephen King. He came up with some of the most iconic scary tales ever, so naturally, he had to be on my list!

#2 Stieg Larsson

If you haven’t read the Millennium books yet, drop everything and do so right now. It’s okay, I’ll wait.
The novels are absolutely brilliant and I couldn’t put them down.

#1 Cornelia Funke

I only ever read her Inkworld books, but those most definitely hold a special place in my heart. She really captures what it means to love books and managed to press it between pages.

#2 Neil Gaiman

With Neil Gaiman, things are not that simple. I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with his works. Usually, I really love his ideas but I am not that a fan of the execution. More often than not, I end up liking the adaptations of his works better than the actual books (which almost never happens!)
Anyways, he has some brilliant ideas that I love, so he deserves to be on this list.

#1 Douglas Adams

How could I not have included him? He was a genius, his famous Hitchhiker’s Guide books have reached cult-status and he made me laugh out loud more time than I can count.

#2 Leigh Bardugo

I know I was late to the party for her books. However, after reading her entire bibliography back to back last year, she’s definitely among my most beloved writers.
