It’s Tuesday, that means it’s time for a bookish favorites posts. Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by Shanah Bionic Book Worm and is quite simple: check out the topic and write a post with your picks.
I don’t often rate books 5 stars, but today I’ll tell why sometimes I get convinced to do it anyway!
#1 – Fun
I am a big fan of good humor. When an author makes me laugh a lot (hello there Rick Riordan!) I am not only tempted to steal the jokes but also give the book a very good rating. It’s not easy to nail that, many authors come up with really flat jokes or humor that doesn’t go that well with the rest of the book. So, really nailing that is definitely a reason to grant 5 stars.
#2 – Good Worldbuilding
Sometimes authors come up with their own worlds but never really give you a good impression of that. When a world is really well built, thought through and brought across perfectly it draws me in all the way. Good worldbuilding also goes hand in hand with avoiding plot holes. Nothing makes me angrier than a good story or world that goes down the drain because it defies logic in several ways.
If good worldbuilding is accomplished, I might give a novel 5 stars.
