I’m currently a bit behind with catching up on all my favourite shows and the new seasons. However, I finally managed to watch Orange is the New Black #5!
Thought #1 – Piper:
Well, I mentioned this in my post about the fourth season, but let me say it again: Although Piper started out as the main character, I was really glad when the focus of the show shifted. At a certain point she began to bore me. After some more time, she annoyed me. She’s an interesting side character, but I’m super glad that in season 5 she’s not the main center of attention and action.
Thought #2 – The Background:
One of the things I appreciated most about the past season is how every character gets to develop and has many different layers. An important part of giving the characters depth, is telling their stories. So far almost all of those were intense and got under your skin. This season not that many stories are featured but believe me, the ones we get to see will hit you hard. Continue reading
The new Doctor Who Christmas Special is approaching (featuring a brand new Doctor!) so I figured it’s time to look back on season 10 and Peter Capaldi’s time as Doctor!
#1 – Nardole:
Companions come and go, but Nardole is most certainly one of my favourites. For a tiny second I had my doubts that Matt Lucas would be able to pull it off, but believe me, he does! He’s so quirky, funny and simply special that I hope we will be seeing more of him in the future!
#2 – Bill:
As we are speaking of companions…
Bill, portrayed by Pearl Mackie, saved the whole Peter Capaldi era for me. To be honest, the first two seasons didn’t really impress me, some episodes almost annoyed me. However, I realized that it’s not Peter Capaldi’s version of the Doctor but Jenna Coleman as companion. I simply didn’t like her character, but as soon as Bill came into the picture I was back on board as well. Season 10 was an emotional rollercoaster, especially the final episode, that just ripped my heart out and tore it to shreds! Continue reading
This year one of my favourite British TV shows returned with another season: Broadchurch! After two years David Tennant and Olivia Colman are back.
Thought #1 – The Cast:
I’ve said this before (basically ever single time I talk about Broadchurch), but I’d like to point out once more how talented all these actors are. David Tennant is perfect as grumpy Detective (and I love his accent), Olivia Colman is just so relatable and her performance is always bound to get me. But also other cast members from past seasons like Jodie Whittaker get a chance to prove their talent. Furthermore, we get some new actors that blend in perfectly! Continue reading
Last month I wrote a post about an amazing TV show I stumbled upon: Ash vs. Evil Dead. I finally had time to check out season 2, so let’s find out whether you should keep on tuning in!
Thought #1 – The Characters:
In season 1 we were introduced to some new characters I grew quite fond of. In season 2 we do not only get some more amazing and surprising cast members, but watch them also gaining more and more depth. Especially when the show turns a bit darker, I was thrilled to find out how each character would handle it. Ash in particular surprised me here… Continue reading
Today I want to talk about one of my favourite animated TV shows: Bob’s Burgers. To celebrate the season finale, which will air soon, I’ll share my thoughts on this season!
Thought #1 – The Episode Titles:
This time, they really excelled themselves! Many of the episode titles are parodies of famous movies. Some of those gems are: Large Brother, Where Fart Thou?, The Last Gingerbreadhouse on the Left, The Grand Mama-Pest Hotel and many more.
To be honest, I was almost more excited to find out the newest episode title, than hear what the episode is actually about. I simply adore these titles and it once more shows with how much love for details Bob’s Burgers is made. Continue reading
This post is another installment in my “better late than never” series. People have been swooning about Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes for years now but I never had the time or the interest to check in with the show.
However, I finally changed my mind – and I’m glad I did!
Thought #1 – The Books:
So far I’ve only seen the first season but I can already tell that this show is great. I love how the original stories made the transition in today’s world. Although only loosely based on Arthur Conan Doyle’s books, you can still see where it came from. I’m 100% inspired to check out the novels now! Continue reading
