Hey, guys!
It’s Tuesday, which means it’s time for a bookish favorites post. Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by Meeghan over on Meeghan Reads and is quite simple: check out the topic and write a post with your picks.
For the next installment in this month’s mini-series, we are talking about books set in the future!
#1 Dune
While trying to come up with some picks for the theme, I realized that I don’t read many sci-fi books, and thus don’t have a lot of choices for books set in the future. I did, however, read the first Dune book which takes place about 20,000 years in the future!
#2 The Space Between Worlds
So, I own a copy of this one but I just haven’t gotten around to reading it yet. From what I understand, the book features different worlds and multiverse travel. So, it has to take place in the future, right?
#3 Winter’s Orbit
Just like The Space Between Worlds, I have a copy of Winter’s Orbit that I still need to read. But it also features this somewhat sci-fi setting with different planets and universes, so my brain filed it under set in the future!
#4 Ready Player One
Well, for this one I actually know that it really is set in the future: Ready Player One takes place in 2045!
#5 Stranger in a Strange Land
Finally, we have Strange in a Strange Land. This book was written in the 50s/60s and takes place in, what at the time, was the future. I don’t think there is a clear statement of what year it takes place in but I think it would be around the time we live in now – just imagined as a far away future when the book originally came out. I do need to say though that while the book kick off with some really interesting, it ended up making me extremely angry. I don’t want to add any spoilers here but I wouldn’t recommend it. However, I didn’t have much else on my list of read books and tbr books that fits the theme, so here we are. 😅

To be honest, I was also surprised when I googled it. I assumed it is set a bit in the future but I had no clue as to how far.
No need to thank me – I love writing these posts every week! ❤
