Hey, guys!
Welcome to another entry for Thursday Movie Picks.
It’s a series hosted by Wandering Through the Shelves, so if you want to join the party, head over to her blog! It’s pretty easy: check out each week’s topic and come up with 3 to 5 movies that fit the theme.
Today, we’re tackling movies that feature family members among the cast. To be more specific, all the films have family members playing the relation in the film that they also have in real life!
#1 Wild at Heart – Diane Ladd and Laura Dern
I’ll take any excuse I can to talk about my favorite David Lynch movie. Laura Dern is just perfect in this one. But another impressive performance was delivered by her mother Diane Ladd, who also plays her mum on screen.
#2 Paper Moon – Ryan O’Neal and Tatum O’Neal
Paper Moon features Ryan and Tatum O’Neal, real-life father and daughter who play the same roles on screen, even though we don’t know with certainty whether or not she really is his child in the film.
#3 Donnie Darko – Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal
And finally, we have another one of my all-time favorite movies. In Donnie Darko Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal who are brother and sister in real life also star as siblings.
What’s your favorite film with actresses and actors who are related? Let me know in the comments!

We match on Paper Moon! I thought of Donnie Darko too but I used it previously.

Donnie Darko is such a good movie, though. I can never pass up a change to talk about it 😅

Ah! We share a pick with Donnie Darko. 3 great films. Oh, Diane Ladd and Laura Dern played mother-daughter again in Citizen Ruth with the former in a cameo appearance as Dern’s mom.
