Thursday Movie Picks: Oscars Winners Edition: Best Animated Movie

Hey, guys!
Welcome to another entry for Thursday Movie Picks.
It’s a series hosted by Wandering Through the Shelves, so if you want to join the party, head over to her blog! It’s pretty easy: check out each week’s topic and come up with 3 to 5 movies that fit the theme.
Continuing the little mini-series of Oscar-winning movies we’re doing this year, we’re talking about pictures that won “Best Animated Movie”.

#1 Spirited Away

Spirited Away ranks high on my list of all-time favorite films. It’s definitely one of the best Studio Ghibli pictures and I’m glad it got the recognition it deserved with this award.

#2 Shrek

How was I not aware that Shrek had won an Academy Award?!
I’ve seen this film more than once and it’s always hell of a good time.

#3 Up

I’m including this one solely on grounds of breaking my heart.
Rarely has there been a movie sadder (or more adorable for that matter) than Pixar’s Up. A deserved win.

What’s your favorite film that won an Academy Award for best animated movie? Let me know in the comments!

  1. We match with Shrek and, I too, forgot it won the Oscar. It is so funny and I always catch new tidbits in the film. I enjoyed Up which does give a shout out to the elderly and what they mean to all of us and deserve our respect. They are often neglected and they were once young and In Love Like us. I still have to see Spirited Away and will not be day.
