Top 5 Tuesday: horror/thriller tropes that don’t scare you

Hey, guys!
It’s Tuesday, which means it’s time for a bookish favorites post. Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by Meeghan over on Meeghan Reads and is quite simple: check out the topic and write a post with your picks.
It’s finally October so we’re doing loads of spooky themes this month. To kick it off, we’ll talk about horror/thriller tropes that don’t scare me. To be honest, there are only very few things that scare me, so this was pretty simple. 😅

#1 Monsters

Any type of monster doesn’t really faze me. Be it werewolves, vampires, zombies or any other basic bitch creature you can think of just doesn’t get under my skin. No matter how well written, it’s just never realistic enough to do the trick for me.

#2 Conjuring Evil

So, while the evil that gets conjured could admittely be a little spooky, I always get stuck on the usually rather stupid people who do the conjuring. You know, kids in a cabin in the woods who find an old book and start reading kind of vibe. 😅

#3 Ghosts/Haunted Houses

This is a little related to #1, but ghosts also don’t scare me. Spending a night in a haunted house really wouldn’t do anything to me. By the end, the ghosts probably would be afraid of me.

#4 Found Footage

I can’t really remember whether I’ve read a book broking on this theme, but there are plenty of movies (Blair Witch Project, etc.) working with it. This is arguably the thing that scares me the very least for some reason.

#5 Insects/Spiders

I know insects or spiders can be pretty intense for some people, as arachnophobia is a thing. But I really don’t mind any kinds of bugs. 😅
