Hello, hello!
I have another horror movie for you this month. After hearing quite a lot about The Babysitter I basically clicked on it by accident when browsing Netflix. Let’s find out whether it was a happy accident. 😉
The Plot (as found on Rotten Tomatoes):
The Babysitter, directed by McG, follows Cole (Judah Lewis), who is madly in love with his babysitter Bee (Samara Weaving). She’s cool and awesome in all the ways Cole is not. One evening while Bee is babysitting, Cole witnesses the unthinkable. Now he must survive a night full of first kisses, first broken hearts, and first encounters with homicidal maniacs (played by Bella Thorne, Andrew Bachelor, Robbie Amell, and Hana Mae Lee).
The Rating:
Oh my, this was something.
I know quite a lot of people were hating on the movie but I found it rather enjoyable!
That is if you treat it as a hilarious take on the genre instead of watching it as an earnest horror film.
The story is nice enough, although things get somewhat weird and flimsy towards the end.
The acting is partly atrocious but it was fitting the overall vibe of the film.
While this does not work as an actual serious horror flick, I had SO much fun watching The Babysitter. We get so many scenes that are downright hilarious and I found myself laughing out loud numerous times throughout the film.
It’s over the top but you can see in several instances where certain ideas were borrowed and where inspiration was drawn from. Although this is clearly not the best, smartest, or most inventive film, I had a grand time watching it.
The Babysitter is the perfect Halloween movie pick for everybody who wants to have a good laugh. While it includes all cliché horror elements, the movie is never actually scary but instead absolutely hilarious!

Yes! So glad you enjoyed this, it was a lot of fun if you aren’t expecting anything too serious. The sequel is just as good, if not slightly better (in my opinion at least!)

YESSSSSS! Stoked that you liked it, too. I was shocked by how many times I laughed out loud, as it seems that everyone involved was having a really fun (/stupid) time. I think they’ve got ANOTHER sequel planned, too.

Very happy you liked this. It was a load of fun right from the start. Samara Weaving has a knack for horror-comedy. She’s gold, both here and in Ready or Not.
