We’re steadily advancing on this Supernatural review marathon. Today, I’ll talk about season 9 of fifteen. Behold, the end is drawing near!
Heaven is closed and all the angels are stuck on earth. As it soon turns out, this is almost as bad as back in the day when hell’s gate burst open. As we are speaking of hell, a battle for the position of HBIC is being prepared…
Here’s the thing: season 9 was pretty good, but I don’t really care for the angels. Well, except for Castiel. Sure, There’s a lot going on and it’s decently written but it just wasn’t my cup of tea.
I am, however, intrigued to find out how things turn out in hell, although so far that part of the story feels a little underdeveloped and not that well written. We still have 6 seasons to take care of that, so I’m lenient for now.
Anyways, there were some episodes I really liked. We get a revamped version of The Wizard of Oz including one of my favorite characters, Charlie! There is one episode about teen-Dean and it’s rather touching. I’m always a sucker for finding out more about the guys’ past, so give me more of that content. Thank you very much.
This season’s entries for funniest episode of all time are a bit weak but certainly had their moments: Sam and Dean investigate a chastity group only to find out that the leader is an ex-porn star Dean is a fan of. And an episode where Dean takes a little something to speak with animals and ends up discussing classic rock with a dog.
My favorite character of this show, however, is Crowley. I like his sarcasm and his sense of humor and I hope we get to see much more of him in the seasons to come. Castiel was also pretty decent in this season, but the angel plot didn’t thrill me, so I hope he also gets something better to do in the next one!
Season 9 is pretty decent but this season’s overall plot just couldn’t reel me in. I just didn’t care for the angels so it was a bit hard to get excited despite some pretty cool episodes.
Did you watch the season? Let me know in the comments what you think!
