Hello, my darling readers!
Today I want to talk about an animated show that is beloved by many. Well, I only just discovered it but am just as smitten as the rest of you! Let’s talk about Gravity Falls.
The Plot:
The 12-year old twins Dipper and Mable are spending their summer with Great-Uncle Stan. The two head to Gravity Falls, not knowing anything about the mysteries and creatures they will soon encounter…
The Rating:
This. Was. So. Good!
When I started watching this show, I hadn’t too many expectations. Let’s be real, I only wanted to check it out for Mabel’s pet pig Waddles. However, I was blown away but how funny and smart this animation is.
First of all, the characters. I love how unique and non-stereotypical they are! Gravity Falls actually plays a lot with clichées and makes fun of that but adding twists to your usual tropes. This take is super refreshing and you can’t help but fall for all of the adorable characters in this show.
Furthermore, the show is absolutely hilarious. Just watch the first episode and you’ll know what I mean. It’s not just the little stories that are well written and funny, it’s the many details they paid attention to that make the show so wonderful.
With kid’s animations, you usually don’t get too intricate stories or even arcs that span over a longer period. You can imagine my surprise with how fascinating and well thought through Gravity Falls is. Season 1 sets the stage for season two with comes not with a fizzle but with a bang. The story is super smart and was overjoyed with both season 1 and 2.
If you haven’t seen Gravity Falls yet, please go ahead and check it out. It’s adorable, funny and smart (+ it comes with a pet pig) and immediately advanced to one of my all-time favorite animations.
