Hello, my darling readers!
Netflix released the 7th and final season of Orange Is the New Black. After season 6 I was a bit disappointed any wary of what is to come. So let’s see if we got a worthy ending here!
Who said that life after prison was easy? Piper is trying and despite being rather privileged she struggles.
Meanwhile, things in prison aren’t swell either. Especially when some of the girls find out what an immigration detention center is like…
Just when I thought OITNB had lost its groove and I’m glad for it to be over, the hit me with this season. Right in the feels.
This final season was extremely emotional. Especially the scenes related to the detention center were so intense. If you know that Diana Guerrero’s (who plays Maritza) entire family was deported to Colombia this whole thing becomes even more real and chilling.
It’s not only the familiar characters that find themselves in the detention center but also some new additions with stories that will bring tears to your eyes.
When it comes to Piper I was torn between feeling for her and being angry because she’s whining despite her entitlement. Of course, she still has the right to struggle and I could see where she was coming from. Great plotline too!
Our old friends and inmates also have quite some trouble to deal with. I found the individual stories to be more moving than they have been in a while. For example, Taystee struggling with wanting to live if it means spending the rest of her life in prison.
Or Gloria who had to leave behind two of her kids in order to provide a better life for them – which ultimately they didn’t want anymore.
But what hit me hardest was Pennsatucky’s storyline. Did I cry? Yes. How could you not?! But I also see it as a reminder that random little acts of kindness can change a persons life. You never know who might need it.
The 7th and final season of OITNB was far better than I had hoped for. The show found a way back to its roots, meaning the season was intense, heartbreaking and simply great!
Did you watch the season? Let me know in the comments what you think!
