Hello, my lovely readers!
Before I continue with my reviews on the MCU films, I’d like to give a shoutout to Shanah from Bionic Book Worm, who came up with the Mid Year Freak Out Tag. I always make sure to participate in her Top 5 Tuesday series and was now tagged to do this post as well!
So let’s take a look at my bookish year so far and what is to come in the second half of 2019!
#1 – THE BEST BOOK I READ SO FAR IN 2019
I read many great books this year but I think my favorite so far is The Cruel Prince by Holly Black. I only picked the book up because I saw it all over Instagram and fell in love with the cover art. That it turned out to be so brilliant was a great surprise!
#2 – MY FAVORITE SEQUEL THIS YEAR
As I am going strong in terms of YA books this year, my favorite sequel has to be Crooked Kingdom. I’m currently about 2/3 through and am beyond thrilled!
#3 – A NEW RELEASE I HAVEN’T READ YET BUT WANT TO
That’s an easy one: Aurora Rising! I read nothing but good things about this one, so I’m excited to finally get my hands on it.
#4 – MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASE FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE YEAR
Queen of Nothing, the final part of The Folk Of The Air by Holly Black can’t be here soon enough. I practically devoured The Cruel Prince and The Wicked King, so this just has to be good! (Although I am not in love with the cover art)
#5 – MY BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT
There was no book I hated so far, but I was thoroughly underwhelmed by Everything, Everything. The story was too predictable for my taste.
#6 – BIGGEST SURPRISE OF THE YEAR
Definitely A Court of Mist and Fury. ACOTAR was pretty much the last book I had read in 2018 and I didn’t like it too much. However, about 1/3 into ACOMAF I couldn’t put the book down and binge-read the rest of the series.
#7 – FAVORITE NEWLY DISCOVERED OR DEBUT AUTHOR
As mentioned before, I started to make my way through the most famous YA books this year. That means I finally read Sarah J. Maas and Leigh Bardugo, both of whom wrote amazing books!
#8 – MY NEW FICTIONAL CRUSH
Tough choice, but I’ll go with Jest from Heartless. Just read the book and you’ll understand.
#9 – NEW FAVORITE CHARACTER
I love all my murder babies from the Six of Crows duology but Kaz Brekker is my favorite. He’s is brilliant and complicated, the stuff that my dreams are made of!
#10 – A BOOK THAT MADE ME CRY
While I’m generally not an emotional person, Sarah J. Maas has managed to make me cry on more than one occasion. However, with Kingdom of Ash she wrecked me for good.
#11 – A BOOK THAT MADE ME HAPPY
I’ll go with Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. It left me with a fuzzy warm feeling in my heart and I wish I could hug all of the characters.
#12 – MY FAVORITE BOOK TO MOVIE ADAPTATION I SAW THIS YEAR
Technically, I haven’t read the book yet, but I need to name Good Omens here. Also, it’s not a movie but a series, however, it’s so brilliant that I need you all to stop reading and check it out immediately.

#13 – FAVORITE BLOG POST I PUBLISHED THIS YEAR
Tough choice! My favorite post is only slightly book related, I guess. I did a review on Game of Thrones Season 8 (when is the next book coming out anyway? I’m looking at you, George R. R. Martin), that I’m pretty proud of.
#14 – MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOK THAT I GOT THIS YEAR
For the first time ever, I ordered some book subscription boxes. The books from those are absolutely stunning. Especially those with sprayed edges will get a special place on my bookshelf.
#15 – WHAT ARE SOME BOOKS THAT I NEED TO READ BY THE END OF THE YEAR?
Well, definitely Good Omens! I also need to check out another YA queen, Cassandra Clare. So far, I haven’t read any of her books and that needs to change.
Thank you Shanah for tagging me! This post really was fun. I’d love for you guys to share your picks with me. I’m only tagging a few people but if you want to without being tagged, please do so!!!
