TMP Television Edition: Music/Musicals

Hey, guys!
Welcome to another entry for Thursday Movie Picks.
It’s a series hosted by Wandering through the Shelves, so if you want to join the party, head over to her blog! It’s pretty easy: check out each week’s topic and come up with 3 to 5 movies that fit the theme.
This week, it’s a TV special featuring my favorite musical moment/musicals!

#1 Galavant

This is actually one of my most recent discoveries. I saw a bunch of quotes and tumblr and found myself laughing tears at the trailer. Galavant is a dashing knight – or at least he was one before his woman ditched him for the king…
One of the leading actresses described the show as “the bastard child of Monty Python and The Princess Bride.” Now imagine that with music and tell me you don’t want to check it out immediately!

#2 Glee

Time for a confession: I haven’t seen a single episode of Glee (yet). I did, however, see a bunch of clips with the Glee cast interpreting famous songs, so I’m really intrigued. The show has 121 episodes and I’m not ready for that kind of commitment. Glee seems to be a brilliant show and I will check it out at some point. Just not today.

#3 Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog

When I couldn’t immediately think of the third pick for this list, I started googling. Turns out, Joss Whedon had written miniseries that stars Neil Patrick Harris as an aspiring supervillain and Nathan Fillion as his nemesis. Oh, and it’s a musical!
Please excuse, while I go to watch that right now!

      • My sister played a bunch of songs from that show and it annoyed the hell out of me. Plus, I saw that movie on TV and it made me want to kill these people for how awful they are. It really reached into the darkest aspects of my soul. That’s how bad it is. Fortunately, there have been a few people from that show I’ve been able to tolerate like Melissa Benoist and Dianna Agron. Plus, I still like Jane Lynch a lot. Everyone else, not so much. Plus, fuck that one guy who died a drug overdose. I’m sorry but anyone who dies of a heroin overdose pretty much dies like an asshole. Like Dee Dee Ramone. I love that guy but he died like an asshole.

  1. Now I remember Galavant! I wanted to see it but I never got a chance to. I saw episodes of Glee but never the beginning and I think it was probably better at the beginning. I love the last one and must see it!
