Thursday Movie Picks: 2018 Releases

Hello, my darling readers!
Welcome to another entry for Thursday Movie Picks.
It’s a series hosted by Wandering through the Shelves, so if you want to join the party, head over to her blog! It’s pretty easy: check out each week’s topic and come up with 3 to 5 movies that fit the theme.
This week’s theme is 2018 releases. However, I only went to the cinema once last year, so I’ll tell you which 2018 film made it to my to-watch-list!

Bohemian Rhapsody:

I already heard so many amazing things about this one, I can’t wait to check out how the film turned out. The trailer looks super impressive and I’ve always loved Freddy Mercury and Queen. Rami Malek was great in Mr. Robot, so I’m intrigued to see him as Freddy!

Mary Poppins Returns:

If this movie isn’t supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, I will be really mad. I’ve been a Mary Poppins fan ever since I listened to the story on tape when I was a kid. So I am super excited for the wonderful Emily Blunt to follow Julie Andrews’ footsteps.

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms:

There’s a very nice Nutcracker movie I had on video when I was younger. Then there was the Barbie film version of the story and not only did I get the video cassette, I also got the doll.
So naturally, I was all ears when I heard a new Nutcracker film is to come up. Unfortunately, I was a bit busy when I finally hit cinemas in Austria, so I’ll have to catch up soon!

Mamma Mia 2 – Here we go again:

Did you know that I’m a huge musical fan? I remember seeing the first Mamma Mia film at the cinema but decided against it for part 2. Why? Well, I love to sing along (very loud and out of tune) and that’s something fellow movie-goers don’t really appreciate.
However, I’m still excited to check this one out!

A Star is Born:

Somehow I managed not to see THE biggest movie of 2018. Everybody talked about it and my Bloglovin’ feed was flooded with reviews.
I thoroughly enjoyed Lady Gaga in American Horror Story, so I will definitely watch this one very soon!

Did you already see any of the films I mentioned? Are they any good? Let me know in the comments and leave me some more suggestions!

  1. I loved Malek in Mr. Robot so I too am intrigued to see him as Freddy, but I think I’ll keep avoiding Bohemian Rhapsody because of Singer.

Mamma Mia 2 has many flaws but, believe it or not, I enjoyed it more than the original. I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I did!

You aren’t the only one who missed A Star is Born in theatres. I waited for the non-dubbed version (I live in Italy) but they never showed it 😦
