Book Review: The Battle of the Labyrinth by Rick Riordan (Percy Jackson #4)

Hello Hello!
I’m really behind with all my book reviews as I currently devour one novel after the other. One particular book I recently read is the fourth installment in the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. Of course I don’t want to withhold this little gem from you!

The Plot:
As the Titan army grows stronger and heads for Camp Halfblood, Percy and his friends need to find a way to stop them. It is rumored that the enemy is approaching through the famous labyrinth Daedalus invented so our heroes have to head there themselves…
But those of you who know the Greek legend can already predict that trouble is ahead.

The Rating:
By now I’m sure you all know that I really dig Greek mythology in general and this book series in particular. I don’t want to repeat myself but I need to state once more how much I love the way Rick Riordan picks up famous stories, creatures and persons only to create something that is new yet familiar. His plotlines are very clever and don’t ever seem copied despite him dealing with widely known stuff.
Furthermore, Riordan has a way of always adding something that will make you smile. No matter how serious the situation is, he’ll come up with a funny joke, a sarcastic line, or just a hilariously awesome plot-twist. I love the characters – and especially the sidekicks – in this series. Those are both heart-warming and kicking-ass!

But the series can’t really be that great, can it? Well, let me warm you: If you don’t like Greek mythology you’ll have a hard time. I’m sure you can enjoy the books very much if you are open to the whole topic. But in my opinion the whole thing will be much funnier when you know a bit about the most famous myths. That leaves you guessing how he’ll adapt the plot and what he will introduce next.

So if you want to learn something and read a seriously awesome book about young heroes on a dangerous mission to basically save the world, check out this book! I totally love it!
Right now I would actually say that I can’t wait to read the next part, but guess what? I already finished that book too! So prepare yourself for a review on that one in the next few days! =)

Did you read the book? Let me know in the comments what you think!
