Hey guys π
The book I want to talk about today is “Thirteen Reasons Why” written by Jay Asher.
The story is about a girl who killed herself. The girl – Hannah Baker – recorded 7 cassette tapes before she committed suicide. On these cassettes she explains what lead her to her tragic decision. She talks about thirteen people who gave her thirteen reasons.
These 13 people receive the cassette one after one so they are aware of the contribution they made by acting the way they did. She explains how for example that she felt guilty because a student died. A friend drove Hannah home from a party an knocked over a stop-sign, what later lead to an accident. Another thing she mentions is how she was molested and then started thinking about killing herself.
Jay Asher wrote an astonishing book that transports feelings with every word. This book crawls right under your skin and makes you think. You start to wonder how the way you act or the things you say affect and influence people.
An amazing book, definitely worth reading.
