Time to talk about Books: The Hitchhiker’s Guide To Galaxy by Douglas Adams

Hey guys 🙂

This time I’m gonna ramble a bit about “The Hitchhiker’s Guide To Galaxy”. You could call this hilarious sci-fi novel a classic.

Douglas Adam’s book is about a man, Arthur Dent, whose house is about to be destroyed to make way for a

bypass. What he doesn’t know is that the same thing is going to happen to the planet earth as well. The Vogons want to get rid of the earth to build a ‘hyperspace bypass’.

Right before the earth explodes, Arthur is rescued by one of his friends, Ford Perfect. He finds out that Ford travels the universe. By hitchhiking they escaped from earth but unfortunately the space ship they land on belongs to Vogons.
After they managed to escape from there as well they are picked up by the ‘Heart of Gold’. This ship was stolen by Zaphod Beeblebrox, President of the Galaxy. He wants to go to the planet Magrathea to find the answer to “Life, the Universe and Everything”.  They experience several adventures before the find what they are looking for.
Douglas Adam’s book is absolutely amazing. It is hilarious and filled with ideas that are so far from everything that you could call normal. I loved it from the first page to the last and it was never boring.

This book really is a must read. (Especially for everybody who wants to find out why nerds and geeks like me always joke about the number 42 ;))

  1. Dear Becca

This is a nice post. However, you might want to fix its typos (and then delete this – or some of this – comment!). I’d add the following. While the book is indeed filled with ideas that are far ‘from everything that you could call normal’, sometimes those ideas illuminate the world that we live in. (Also, there’s a typo on your ‘About me’ page.) (PS: Ah, but perhaps English is not your first language. . In which case, what you’ve written is impressive.)

    • Thank you very much for the hint 🙂 I fixed the typos immediately. Yep, English is not my first language and I guess I should stop writing my posts in the middle of the night without proofreading them xD
