Suddenly you’re afraid and you don’t know what you’re afraid of.

Suddenly you’re afraid and you don’t know what you’re afraid of.

The ones of you who have ever watched Breakfast at Tiffany’s will know this quotation. It’s almost at the beginning of the movie when Audrey Hepburn aka Holly Golightly mentions this. Don’t we all know that feeling? All of a sudden you feel completely lost and you have no idea where that feeling is coming from. Audrey says that when she gets that feeling she goes to Tiffany’s ‘cause at a place like that nothing bad could ever happen to you. For her that’s where she gets a sense of home.

Well, when I get this feeling I go and watch Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Another scene of that movie that is somehow stuck in my mind is when this guy from her past tries to convince Audrey aka Holly to come back to him and she explains that the girl he knew, the girl he wants to come back, doesn’t exist anymore. Then when he is gone she admits the most awful thing is that actually she still is that  girl.

I guess that’s also a feeling most of us know. You try so fucking hard to be some else. You can clearly picture the person you want to, the person you want others to see in you. You’re running from yourself but no matter how hard you try you can’t be someone you’re not.

You should try to start being friends with yourself. Because being yourself is what you’re gonna end up with. You better make the best of what you are than putting your whole effort in being something you’re not.

Although Kurt Cobain has absolutely nothing to do with Audrey Hepburn, I always has to think of something he said, when this particular scene comes on.

“Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are.”

He’s totally right with that. So just give up pretending. Wearing a mask all the time never causes anything good. You are who you are and guess what? That’s just fine!
